In today's blog post we are going to examine the different types of earrings that exist. Earrings have been around for a long time and according to Cuttings jewellery they might have been around for over 7000 years!
Classical earring types and shapes
There are many different types of earrings and more are born by the minute when new trends emerge. Here are some popular earring types that have been around for some time.
Studs
Stud style earrings are often quite small and simple. They consists of a needle with a single stone or diamond.
Chandeliers
The chandelier earring type is a dramatic earring type. Chandelier shaped earrings are often quite long and are often used as statement jewellery.
Hoops
Hoops are a popular type of earring and they can be thick or thin, small or big, bejeweled or plain. The common nominator for hoop earrings is that they all are hoop shaped.
Huggies
The huggie type of earring consists of a small hoop that “hugs” your earlobe, hence the name. They can be undecorated or inserted with stones but the loop remains small and leaves no air between the hoop and the earlobe.
Drops
The drop style earring consists of a single dangling drop. These earrings can come in many materials such as, pearls, rhinestones or natural stones. They can be classical or cute and even a bit dramatic, depending on the design.
Cluster
Cluster earrings often consists of clusters of diamonds or rhinestones that create a sparkling effect when the light hits it.
Dangle
The dangling type of earring hangs down from the ear. This type of earring is often long and is able to move “dangle” back and forth when you walk.
